$17.00 per hour is the base pay for this position with little to NO experience.
However, COMPENSATION IS COMMENSURATE WITH EXPERIENCE.
We are looking for someone preferably with a Plumbing or HVAC license, or the willingness and ability to obtain it within 1 year.

JOB SUMMARY: Under remote supervision performs safe and professional installation of natural gas plumbing and appliances for residential and commercial customers. Provides oversight to technicians and associates as assigned. Senior Installation Technicians must obtain and maintain all the qualifications of both Installation and Service Technicians. Reports to the Supervisor of Operations..
III. Principle Accountabilities include:
· Coordinates and performs installations of natural gas plumbing and appliances for residential and commercial customers.
· Vents appliances as needed.
· Ensures compliance with all applicable building and safety codes and regulations.
• Inspects pipes and other equipment for leaks.
• Accurately records labor and materials used for individual jobs to ensure proper customer billing.
• Receives and responds to inquiries, requests, and complaints from customers; interprets gas codes and explains Gas Authority products, policies, and procedures; takes necessary action to resolve problems.
• Operates a vehicle and a variety of equipment such as a telephone, radio, ditch witch, backhoe, tractor, dump truck, heaters, dryers, furnaces, kitchen appliances, pipefitter tools, mechanic’s tools, diagnostic instruments, hand tools, power tools, pipe locators, lift equipment, carpentry tools, air compressor, meters, gauges, etc.
• Primarily interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as Technicians, Supervisors, co-workers, contractors, and customers.
• Provides oversight to assigned staff, including instructing, reviewing work, maintaining standards, and training staff. Offers advice and assistance as needed.
• Completes documentation and prepares required reports on a timely basis.
Secondary Duties:
· Maintains an organized inventory of tools, parts, and materials used in daily tasks, and requisitioning, as necessary. • Subject to a scheduled on-call rotation for after-hours and weekend emergencies. • Maintain availability for contact during emergency events and notify supervision when not available. • Report to work as requested to support the Authority’s emergency response efforts. • Adheres to and enforces safety standards. • May install underground gas mains and service lines as needed. • Restores or disconnects service to customers as appropriate. • Performs minor repairs to natural gas equipment. • Assists in maintaining a clean and orderly work environment. • Perform other duties as assigned.
III. JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent • Must have and maintain a SC Driver’s License and the ability to maintain standards for insurability. • Daily completion of required documentation • Minimum 3 years of experience in a related field • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude. • Demonstrated computer Skills. • Demonstrated interpersonal skills. • Within 24 months, obtain and maintain pertinent Operator Qualifications and successfully perform job related skills as required for both the Installation and Service Technicians. pertinent Operator Qualifications and successfully perform job-related skills as required.
Desired qualifications:
·Associate degree in a Technical Field • 5 years’ experience in the natural gas industry. • SC Residential Builders Commission License for Plumbing, HVAC, or Electrical • Training Experience • Heavy equipment operation • Successful completion of Leak Survey Training. • SC Commercial Driver’s License
Physical Requirements:
· Work is minimally strenuous but may require exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body; will involve walking or standing for extended periods of time. Primarily works both indoors and outdoors and may involve working in confined areas or during inclement weather. Must be able to walk over uneven terrain and access rooftops, crawl spaces, attics, and other confined areas. • Must be available to work nights, weekends, holidays, and out-of-town travel, as needed
