Power of the Purse is Black River United Way Women United’s signature women’s fundraiser supporting youth literacy advancement in Georgetown and Williamsburg counties.

The 2026 fundraising luncheon will feature a silent auction, a women’s panel discussion with a surprise guest speaker you won’t want to miss. Power of the Purse is a day for women changemakers to unite and show what can be accomplished when we work together. We look forward to your attendance and financial commitment in 2026!

​All Women United fundraising efforts support the Heroes for Literacy program helping kindergarten – 3rd grade Georgetown and Williamsburg county students achieve age- appropriate literacy. Our goal for 2026 is to support 40-60 students in our counties for literacy advancement.
