Baby Blues – A Family Boutique: A Journey of Joy and Resilience
January 1, 2025Mary-Grace Iusti, owner of the newly launched Baby Blues – A Family Boutique, is no stranger to perseverance and passion. Her entrepreneurial journey has been anything but conventional, blossoming from a shared love of farming with her husband, Braden, to a heartfelt mission inspired by her personal experiences as a mother.
“I have always dreamed of owning my own business,” Mary-Grace shared. “Even in high school, I talked about having a salon with a boutique offering different services. That dream never left me.”
In 2021, Mary-Grace and Braden brought their dream to life by opening The Patch, a UPICK Pumpkin Patch that showcased locally grown pumpkins alongside goods from local vendors and craftsmen. Their first year was a resounding success, drawing community support in their small town and setting the stage for future endeavors. Soon after, the couple welcomed their first child, Owen, in March 2022.
However, the joyous milestone of becoming a mother was soon overshadowed by a battle with postpartum depression and anxiety—an experience Mary-Grace describes as “hitting her like a ton of bricks.”
“I felt like my anxiety and depression took everything from me,” she recalled. “The few moments of joy I found were in dressing my son. Planning his outfits for holidays and special occasions gave me something to look forward to.”
These moments of happiness sparked the idea for Baby Blues – A Family Boutique. The boutique offers clothing and accessories for women and children, inspired by Mary-Grace’s journey to rediscover joy during a challenging time.
“Baby Blues is a testament to finding beauty and happiness on the other side of the ‘baby blues,’” Mary-Grace explained. “I pray it becomes a space where moms feel open, confident, and supported.”
The boutique’s name and logo symbolize this balance of emotions, blending blue to represent sadness and yellow for happiness. Baby Blues launched on social media in November 2024, and its growth has been fueled by Mary-Grace’s unwavering determination and the support of her family and friends.
“The time is never right,” she said, recounting her husband’s advice. “So I went for it, and the response has been incredible.”
With plans to expand, including a brick-and-mortar store and an upcoming website, Mary-Grace remains committed to her mission. She also offers shipping and public meet-ups for local customers.
“Clothing brought me joy during some of my darkest days,” she said. “I hope the pieces from Baby Blues bring others the same sense of happiness and create cherished memories.”
