Bellview Baptist Church Honors Fallen Heroes with 5k Run/Walk on Memorial Day

April 30, 2024

Bellview Baptist Church has a long-standing history of service in the Laurens and Clinton communities. It’s in that calling to serve the Veterans Helping Hands ministry was born. Lead by Laura Bell, Veterans Helping Hands is a group of veterans focused on sharing the gospel through volunteer work which directly impacts the Laurens County Veteran community and beyond. A ministry formed by veterans for veterans, their family, and members of the church.

This year on Memorial Day, Veterans Helping Hands will hold a Moment of Remembrance and Prayer to be followed by a 1-mile run/ 5k walk to remember Laurens County fallen military service members. The event will take place on Monday, May 27, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. at the Swamp Rabbit Loop Trail. The start point will be at 292 Professional Park Rd., Clinton, SC. This event is open to all who would like to participate, free of charge. The first 25 participants to arrive will receive a commemorative T-shirt of the event.

“Our goal is to inspire people to remember the reason why Memorial Day is important” said Darren Rood, lead pastor, Bellview Baptist Church “It’s not about grilling out or having an extra day off, it’s about remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice for us all.”

“We can never repay our fallen for the freedom they fought and died to preserve or their families for so selflessly giving their sons and daughters to God and country” said Rood.
