Cayce Calls on Amateur Photographers for Contest

March 17, 2009

CAYCE, SC – March 17, 2009 – The City of Cayce is announcing its second annual amateur photography contest for the 2009-2010 citizens’ calendar. Cayce is calling for photos featuring locations in the city or residents of Cayce, but the contest is open to all amateur photographers in South Carolina.

“The calendar is the perfect place to showcase Cayce’s scenic spots and community spirit,” said Mayor Elise Partin. “It’s great to be able to see the pride and enjoyment people have in the city from their own eyes in the photos.”

Last year’s winners included shots of picturesque landscapes, fun family snapshots and the grand prize winner, Krispy Kreme in the early morning, a Cayce landmark.

“The calendar was a big success last year so we are excited about holding the contest again this year,” adds City Manager John Sharpe.

Photographs must be the original work of the applicant and feature Cayce locations or people as its subject matter. Photos may be color and should be submitted as an 8”x10” image with name of photo, name of photographer and completed registration and release forms, which are located on the City of Cayce web site (http://www.cityofcayce-sc.gov.)

The deadline for entry is Thursday, May 7, 2009. The grand prize winner will receive a $100 cash prize and have his/her winning entry featured on the calendar’s cover. An additional eleven photographs will be selected for inclusion in the calendar and those contestants will receive a Reflections of Cayce poster and a Cayce t-shirt.
