CCSD selects permanent leader of CCSD elementary schools 

Charleston County School District (CCSD) announced Dr. Jennifer Swearingen as Associate Superintendent of the Elementary Learning Community. Swearingen has served as Interim Associate Superintendent of the Elementary Learning Community since 2022. Prior to her time as an associate, Swearingen served as one of the district’s directors of Elementary Learning. She has served in CCSD for the last 27 years.

Swearingen joined the district as a teacher at Ladson Elementary School in 1997. She served at Ladson for over seven years before joining CCSD administration as an assistant principal at Jennie Moore Elementary School.

Holding a steadfast commitment to best practice and a “students first” philosophy, she was quickly recognized for her leadership and dedication as an educator and was promoted to principal at Oakland Elementary School in West Ashley. Swearingen served as principal at Oakland for eight years before joining the central staff as a leader of the Elementary Learning Community.
