Celebrating 5th Anniversary, Charleston Miracle League Hosts Event to Honor Organization Founders, Workers and New Partners, Coastal Community Foundation

November 2, 2009

CHARLESTON, SC – November 7, 2009 – The Charleston Miracle League (CML),  an organization which allows children and adults with special needs to play baseball, will celebrate their 5th anniversary on November 7, 2009 at the Joe Griffin Miracle Field, 780 Wake Oak Forest Drive. Festivities kick-off at 9 a.m. between baseball games.

During the event, new partners, Coastal Community Foundation, will be presented a $15,000 check to start the Baseball Forever Endowment Fund, which will provide investments for the future of CML. Current CML workers as well as former board members that helped launch the program will also be recognized. Additionally, the Mary Jane Murphy Memorial Garden will be dedicated as a special area to reflect and celebrate the lives of all the former CML players.

The Charleston Miracle League has not only survived for five years, it has thrived, and we are so proud to have gotten to this point with continued growth, said Channing Proctor, CML founder. Best of all, everybody has fun at our games – the players love playing, their families love watching, the volunteers love providing support as buddies, coaches, umpires and fans.

The celebration will begin at 9:00 a.m. Parking is available in the ball field behind the Joe Griffith Miracle Field. Food and drinks will be available for purchase at the concession stand. A rain date is scheduled for November 14, 2009.
