Chamber Annual Port Briefing and Tour
August 4, 2011CHARLESTON, SC – August 18, 2011 – It’s that time of year for the Chamber’s annual Port Briefing and Tour, Wednesday, August 18. The South Carolina Ports Authority leadership will give an update Port activity, including the new terminals, harbor deepening and how they plan to re-capture Charleston’s position among our nation’s ports by attracting new port business.
The event will also include a bus tour of the new Port terminal. Then attendees will have a first-hand look at port activity and its impact on commerce and the region’s economy by boat.
The port tour offers a once a year opportunity to view the ongoing changes at the port from its proper perspective – onboard a boat. The briefing and tour afford a rare opportunity to get a close up look and better understanding of our community’s most valuable economic asset, all while enjoying a fun cruise, said Bill Hawkins, Post and Courier.
Attendees should meet at the Chamber for the pre-tour briefing at 2 p.m. and the tour will return to the Chamber for the post-tour reception at 5 p.m. Cost: $75 for Chamber members $150 for non-members.
