Children’s Programs highlight summer months at Upcountry History Museum

The Upcountry History Museum – Greenville County, a Smithsonian Affiliate, has quite a lineup of programs and events scheduled for this summer. From the ever-popular Toddler Time and Family Fun Day to special events like Girl Scout Night, and Story Time at Swamp Rabbit Café, each program promises to be one of activity, learning, and excitement for all ages.
Toddler Time provides an opportunity to spark children’s innate curiosity through hands-on activities that are educational and engaging. This month, children can step into the pages of author and illustrator Eric Carle’s colorful picture books in conjunction with the Museum’s exhibition, Very Eric Carle: A Very Hungry, Quiet, Lonely, Clumsy, Busy Exhibit” and enjoy playtime, group story time with snack and juice, as well as an opportunity to meet the Very Hungry Caterpillar. New to the summer schedule this year is Girl Scout Night on Thursday, June 22 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. This unique, after-hours night at the Museum is for all local Brownie and Junior Girl Scouts. This Scout-only evening will include guided tours and hands-on activities that center around early Upcountry history. Enjoy a pizza dinner with plenty of exploration and playtime throughout the Museum. The cost is $20.00 per Scout. Go to www.upcountryhistory.org to register.
Story Time at Swamp Rabbit Café is Friday, June 30 at 9:00 a.m. and will focus on the summer exhibition, Very Eric Carle. Group story time and a chance to meet the very popular and hungry caterpillar highlight this fun morning event that is free and open to children and families.
