City of Charleston to Accept Award-Winning Painting

CHARLESTON, SC – June 15, 2012 – The City of Charleston will be presented with the painting that won the 2012 Mayor’s Purchase Award, Dusk at King and Queen,by renowned Charleston impressionist, Rick Reinert, Thursday, June 21at 5:30 PM at the Reinert LePrince Fine Art gallery, 179 King Street.
Mayor Joseph P. Riley, Jr. will accept the painting on behalf of theCity where it will remain on display. The public is invited to attendthe presentation and the reception that follows.
Each year since 1980, theMayor’s Purchase Award has recognized an outstanding piece of artdisplayed at Piccolo Spoleto. All of the artistic selections are judgedby an independent professional artist to determine the winner. MayorRiley is not part of the selection process, and the purchase is fundedby Spoleto entry fees.
