City To Continue Tree Restoration And Replacement Project Downtown

February 3, 2015

GREENVILLE SC – On Monday, the City of Greenville will continue its ongoing tree restoration and replacement program along Main Street, between East Court Street and West North Street. The purpose of the project is to achieve the long-term goals of maintaining the aesthetic appeal of Main Street, and this year’s scope is derived from the annual assessment by consulting arborist James Urban.

The project will include corrective pruning of selected trees, tree restoration and root mitigation and removal and replacement of some declining maples. The attached maps show the specific locations where the tree restoration and replacement work will be conducted.

The work will be performed by Schneider Tree Care, and is expected to be completed by late-March. While closure of some sections of sidewalk may be necessary, access to downtown businesses will remain open and every effort will be made to minimize the impact of the tree work on merchants and their customers.
