Clinton’s Lumberyard Craft Beer and Wine Bar Prepares to Celebrate One Year with a Bang

April 2, 2024

In a small town like Clinton, South Carolina, finding a vibrant spot for good drinks and great company can be a challenge. That’s why, when Stacey and Charlie Michaels decided to open The Lumberyard Craft Beer and Wine Bar, locals knew they were in for something special. Fast forward a year, and The Lumberyard is celebrating its first anniversary with a weekend of festivities that promise to be a great time.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to mark this milestone,” says Stacey Michaels, co-owner of The Lumberyard. “It’s been an incredible journey, and we’re grateful to our patrons for making it possible.

The anniversary celebrations kick off on Friday night with drink specials galore. Guests can enjoy discounted prices on their favorite brews while grooving to the tunes of Soul Intent, the ultimate party band set to take the stage from 6:30pm to 9:30pm. It’s the perfect way to start the celebration and set the tone for an unforgettable weekend.

Saturday promises even more excitement as The Lumberyard opens its doors at 3:00pm for another day of fun-filled festivities. The highlight of the day? The inaugural Lumberyard Beer Mile, a thrilling event that combines running and beer in the most entertaining way possible.

“Do you like to run? Do you like to drink beer? If you answered yes to either question, then you are going to love this!” exclaims Charlie Michaels, co-owner of The Lumberyard. “The Beer Mile is all about having a blast with friends while enjoying some friendly competition.”

Participants in the Beer Mile can choose between the solo challenge or the team relay. In the solo challenge, runners tackle a quarter-mile loop, punctuated by the consumption of a beer before each lap. Meanwhile, in the team relay, squads of four take turns running and drinking, adding an extra layer of camaraderie to the mix.

“The best part about this race is that you can either be the faster runner or the faster chugger – both skills are needed to have the edge!” adds Charlie with a grin.

But amidst all the revelry, safety remains a top priority. “We want to make this event fun and safe, so don’t be the one who ruins it for everyone else,” reminds Stacey. “Please plan for a designated driver or a safe ride home.”

The Lumberyard invites all to join in commemorating one year of unforgettable memories and incredible brews. “Bring your friends, family, and your party spirit – let’s make this anniversary one to remember!” encourages Stacey. “Cheers to many more years of great times ahead!”

Indeed, for The Lumberyard Craft Beer and Wine Bar, the first year is just the beginning of what promises to be a long and vibrant journey at the heart of the Clinton community.

Proceeds of the Beer Mile will go to the Whitten Center Friends. Currently there are two sponsors for the event, Upstate Insurance Consultants and Sadler Hughes Apothecary. Additional sponsorships are available. Click HERE to register for the Beer Mile.

Cheers to the Lumberyard and here’s to many more years of good times with great friends at the Lumberyard!
