Colliers | South Carolina announces Service Excellence Award recipients

Colliers | South Carolina is pleased to announce that the company’s 2023 Service Excellence Awards were presented to Melissa Brewington, Shannon Lyon, Monica Wright, Brandi Martino and Jim Meadows of the company’s Accounting and Real Estate Management Services (REMS) teams. The awards were presented at the company’s annual Awards Celebration held at Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia on February 21, 2024.
The Service Excellence Award recognizes a team or an individual that delivers services of outstanding quality, creativity, geographic reach and unique collaboration and inspires others to provide the same level of superior service to our clients. These individuals go “above and beyond” by making the most of their expertise and resources to solve complex challenges while creating memorable and successful outcomes for their clients and colleagues.
Melissa Brewington is the REMS Accounting Supervisor for Colliers | South Carolina. She was nominated for the Service Excellence Award for striving to produce an excellent accounting product for all of Colliers | South Carolina’s property management clients. Her role includes supervising the REMS accounting team and reviewing financials and reconciliations.
“Melissa is a great leader who is widely respected and a trusted resource for our team of property managers, administrators and accounting staff across the state,” said Mark Burgess, CPA, Controller for Colliers | South Carolina. “She takes the time to answer questions and educate her staff and she has a wonderful attitude that is contagious. Melissa has established a high level of client service that embraces organization, accountability, client communication, appropriate deliverable expectations and results.”
Shannon Lyon, Brandi Martino and Monica Wright, all Property Managers in Colliers’ Columbia office, were nominated for the Service Excellence award for their outstanding work with a local nonprofit organization’s property management assignment.
“Unlike typical commercial real estate investments, nonprofit organizations are often challenged to have adequate cash flow to support facility operations and maintenance needs. Funding is at times limited to income from grants and donations. Thus, Shannon, Brandi and Monica had to ‘think outside of the box’ when it came to repair needs and vendor services for this special client,” said Eric Zimmerman, Director of REMS for Colliers | South Carolina. “In 2023, this team successfully managed 138 work orders and negotiated better pricing for contracts on behalf of this nonprofit organization. The number of emergency calls also declined since the team started managing building systems and ensuring repairs and preventative maintenance are completed.”
Jim Meadows is the Chief Building Engineer for the Tower at 1301 Gervais in Columbia, one of Colliers’ managed properties and the location of the Colliers’ Columbia office.
“Jim is a huge asset not only to Colliers but also to the Tower ownership and tenants,” said Kim Butler, Senior Vice President of REMS for Colliers | South Carolina. “Jim is a dedicated employee who works diligently to maintain the Tower at 1301 Gervais. He takes pride in his work and responds to maintenance requests in a timely manner. His excellent customer service and willingness to go above and beyond has served the Tower, its owners and its tenants for 20 years.”
