Coloring Clinton’s Streets: Unveiling the Newest Storm Drain Mural

March 31, 2024

In the heart of Clinton, a vibrant splash of color now graces the streets, thanks to the unveiling of the newest storm drain mural. Spearheaded by Keep Laurens County Beautiful (KLCB), this initiative aims to highlight the critical importance of maintaining clear storm drains while celebrating the artistic talent within the community.

Miss Johnson, the esteemed art teacher at Clinton High School, played a pivotal role in bringing this project to fruition, generously allowing her class to participate in the first-ever KLCB Storm Drain Mural Contest.

The mural serves as more than just a pretty pop of color; it serves as a poignant reminder to residents and visitors alike about the imperative need to keep litter out of storm drains and waterways. These conduits, often overlooked, play a crucial role in safeguarding our local ecosystems. As Courtney Stones, Beautification Affiliate Coordinator, aptly puts it, “Let’s work together to protect our environment and our drinking water.”

If you find yourself in Clinton, take a stroll to the square and see the artwork firsthand.

The first storm drain painting in this program was unveiled in October 2023. Hopefully there will be more.
