Columbia Author Signed to Two Book Deal with Kensington

COLUMBIA, SC – September 22, 2007 – Janna McMahan was recently signed to a two book deal with Kensington Publishing in New York. Her first novel with Kensington, CALLING HOME, will be released on February 6, 2008.

CALLING HOME is set in the late 1970s when rural America was just waking up to the possibilities presented by the women’s rights movement. It is the story of a family struggling to balance their traditional expectations for their daughter with her desire to attend college and have a career; but this time of sex, drugs and rock and roll makes it difficult for her to stay focused on her future.

McMahan’s fiction has won numerous awards including the SC Fiction Project, the Piccolo Spoleto Fiction Open, the Harriette Arnow Award and the Imaginitive Writing Award from the Kentucky Women Writers Conference. McMahan is also a freelance writer whose personal essays and creative non-fiction have been published in many dozen magazines and newspapers.

McMahan is available for speaking engagements and book signings in 2008.
