District 56 Takes Additional Steps for Security at all Schools

February 28, 2023

Laurens County School District 56 has taken additional steps to keep students, faculty and staff safe.

The District has purchased metal detectors for use during school and after school activities. The metal detectors may be utilized across all campuses and will not affect the drop-off of students. Students will continue to enter school buildings as normal, and metal detector stations will be manned by school personnel.

This is an ongoing effort to improve the safety and security at our campuses for our students, staff, and visitors. Dr. David O’Shields stated, “This is a continuous effort to ensure the safety and well-being of our students and staff.”
