Dorchester County appoints new Clerk to Council

Dorchester County is pleased to announce the appointment of Lona R. Conrad as the new Clerk to Council, effective July 8, 2024. Ms. Conrad brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of exceptional team and individual performance to this key role in county government.

Ms. Conrad is a 24-year veteran of the United States Air Force, where she has demonstrated outstanding leadership, strategic guidance, and operational management. As a Regional Manager in the Air Force, she oversaw 350 members across 14 locations, ensuring compliance, optimizing personnel allocation, and engaging in high-level strategic planning. Her extensive background in human resources, policy development, and program management will be invaluable to Dorchester County.

In her new role as Clerk to Council, Ms. Conrad will be responsible for maintaining official county records, managing council meetings, and ensuring that county policies and procedures are followed. Her commitment to transparency, efficiency, and service excellence aligns perfectly with Dorchester County’s mission to serve its residents effectively.
