Dr. Jesse Willingham, Owner, Brighter Outlook Vision

Brighter Outlook Vision is a specialty vision practice in the heart of Charleston, SC. They care about the quality of life of those who haven’t found relief from vision problems in glasses alone.

Dr. Jesse Willingham, founder of BOV, is a developmental optometrist (sometimes called a binocular vision specialist, neuro-optometrist or behavioral optometrist), residency-trained in vision therapy and rehabilitation. Each patient is unique and Dr. Jesse is a creative thinker. They have several tools to help people, including specialty lenses, prisms, CureSight, and at-home and in-person vision therapy. Depending on the patient’s needs, they create the best program for their individual goals.

Vision doesn’t just happen in the eyes. We truly see with our brain, as our brain both processes what we see and tells the eyes what to do next. Vision therapy helps your brain and eyes work together so that you can see to the best of your ability. It goes beyond glasses, and helps fix the root of the problem.

Their vision clinic helps with a number of conditions, including:

  • Vision coordination problems that interfere with reading and learning, like Binocular Vision Dysfunction
  • Visual processing disorders (poor spatial awareness, visual memory, letter reversals, among other skills)
  • Myopia
  • Amblyopia (lazy eye) and strabismus (crossed eyes)
  • Vision rehabilitation for vision problems resulting from head injury or stroke
