Farm Bureau Day

February 19, 2024

The American Farm Bureau (AFB) Women’s Leadership Committee representatives will deliver food donations to Ronald McDonald House Charities Columbia, SC, which will contribute to our Make-a-Meal program.

Farm Bureau Day is part of Food Check-Out Week event. The objective of this week long event is to recognize not only how much Americans spend on food yearly and have much they have to offer, but to give back to the community. Through this event, AFB raises awareness and educates and informs consumers of new ways to supply their families with healthy food on a limited budget. Since the start of the program in the mid-1990s, the Food Check-Out Week has had Farm Bureau members donate more than $3 million worth of food and monetary contributions to the Ronald McDonald House as well as other incredible charities.

“Farm Bureau means so much to RMHC because we could not continue to provide care for our families without our community partner. This large donation allows us to provide meals so our family can focus on what matters most: the health of their children”. – Beth: executive director

About The Ronald McDonald House

The Ronald McDonald House in Columbia, SC, opened on May 18, 1983. In 1996, Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Columbia, SC was formed, merging Pediatric Family Services of the Midlands and Ronald McDonald Children’s Charities. Today, RMHC Columbia, SC, is an active, energetic organization with a volunteer board of directors and professional staff serving families and children through two cornerstone programs, the Ronald McDonald House and the Ronald McDonald Family Room. The first Family Room opened in Palmetto Health Richland Hospital in 2003. Then, in 2008, with the construction of the new Children’s Hospital, a new Family Room opened on the first floor of the hospital and serves families of children receiving care within the hospital. We are supported by a caring community of volunteers and generous contributors and sponsors.
