First Community Bank completes record pacesetter campaign

November 5, 2018

First Community Bank, a longtime United Way supporter, recently completed its annual United Way giving campaign in August, raising more than $32,000 for United Way of the Midlands. In total, employees raised nearly $42,500 in 14 days for United Way of the Midlands, Greenville County, Pickens County, Kershaw County and Aiken County in South Carolina and United Way of Central Savannah River Area in Georgia. This was a record campaign year and a 56% increase over the prior year’s donations.

“First Community Bank is a valued partner of United Way, and this impressive increase in campaign results provides tremendous momentum toward our efforts to support the Midlands,” said United Way President and CEO Sara Fawcett. “This year’s campaign is something of which First Community Bank’s employees should be especially proud. We are grateful for their dedication to our mission to make long-term change to improve the quality of life for every person in the Midlands.”

First Community Bank is a Midlands-based, community bank with an emphasis on serving local businesses. With the help of employees across each of the bank’s market areas—the Midlands, Upstate and Aiken areas of South Carolina and the Augusta region of Georgia—First Community raised $42,500. Brooke Kuchenbrod, the bank’s human resources officer and member of United Way’s Young Leaders Society and Women in Philanthropy, led this year’s campaign.

“One of the founding values at the core of our company culture is a spirit of service. This not only impacts how we interact with customers and coworkers, but extends into how we act as members of the community” said Kuchenbrod. “We’re proud to partner with an organization like United Way, and we believe their dedication to positively impacting the community is a true reflection of our commitment to service.”

Thanks to local partners like First Community Bank, United Way is leading the charge in improving quality of life in the Midlands by working to prevent homelessness, provide affordable eye and dental care and prepare children to enter kindergarten ready to learn and graduate high school on time.
