April 27, 2015

Registration is open for a free conference that will highlight Richland County’s efforts to expand broadband Internet access to residents and businesses.

The CONNECTIONS 2015 conference will be 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 13 at IT-oLogy , 1301 Gervais St. The event will feature speakers from various fields and culminate with a segment heralding Richland County as the nation’s first “Certified Connected” capital community.

Richland County’s Information Technology Department began the certification process in 2013. Findings from the assessment, along with strategies to improve high speed Internet access countywide will be presented at the conference.

The event will illustrate the importance of being “Certified Connected” and how the certification will benefit all municipalities, communities, businesses and other entities within Richland County. Richland County is promoting the certification with the slogan: “We’re All Connected!”

The conference is presented by Connect South Carolina, the statewide nonprofit promoting the expansion of broadband. To register for this free community event, visit www.connectsc.org.
