June 8, 2011

GREENVILLE, SC – June 8, 2011 – Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood, Inc. is pleased to announce that the firm’s Greenville office has been awarded two sewer projects in the Carolinas.  The firm has been selected for a sewer rehabilitation and replacement project for the town of Iva, SC, as well as for a project at the Lincolnton-Lincoln County Regional Airport in Lincolnton, NC.

Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood will perform the design and construction administration of the Town of Iva sewer rehabilitation and replacement. The firm will design improvements to the existing aging sewer system for the town, reducing the possibility of infiltration and inflow into the sewer system and sanitary sewer overflows.  Nearly 40,000 linear feet of sewer lines and associated manholes will be replaced or rehabilitated.  Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood consulted the Town of Iva on the preparation of a preliminary engineering report and the application for the project, which will be funded by USDA Rural Development through a combination grant/loan package.

The Lincolnton-Lincoln County Regional Airport project includes the design and construction administration of new gravity sewer lines, pump station and associated appurtenances and force main to serve the new industrial park at the existing airport.  The project will be funded by the Economic Development Administration (EDA) and Lincoln County.  Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood was selected based on their proven history of working with the EDA on projects throughout the Southeast.

“Sewer systems have a tremendous impact on people’s daily lives and wellbeing and are a vital component of a community’s infrastructure,” said Kevin Laird, managing partner of Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood’s Greenville office.  “We are pleased to help the communities and businesses with their crucial sewer projects.  Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood has vast experience in not only design work, but also in helping identify possible funding sources.”
