August 5, 2009REMBERT, SC – August 6, 2009 – Modern Turf, a leading sod producer announced today that four major golf courses in the Grand Strand area improved their facilities with turf that was grown at their Rembert, SC sod farm.
With the hot and humid climate in South Carolina, Modern Turf specializes in growing grasses for the Southeast that are heat and disease tolerant. Golf courses across the South are relying on the professional growers at Modern Turf to provide high quality turfgrass for their memberships and clients.
The Grand Strand plays host to some of the finest Golf Courses in South Carolina. Rivers Edge Golf Club in Shallotte converted their greens from bentgrass to SeaDwarf seashore paspalum. Tidewater Golf Club and Plantation renovated tees, bunkers and some green complexes utilizing Tifway 419 and Celebration bermudagrass. Arrowhead Country Club replaced their 27 holes of bentgrass greens with MiniVerde ultradwarf bermudagrass sod. Sandpiper Bay Golf Club replaced nine more of their bent greens with MiniVerde (for a total of 18 of 27 now converted) with the final nine to be sprigged with MiniVerde in June of 2010.
Hank Kerfoot of Modern Turf stated; “Nothing makes us prouder than being able to go and inspect these new greens and other projects and see the grasses thriving in their new environment. We give a lot of credit to the superintendents of these courses; their dedication and experience help make our products successful for projects throughout the Southeast.
