Greenville Literacy Association Kicks Off Annual Book Drive For Really Good, Really Big, Really Cheap Book Sale
June 11, 2012GREENVILLE, SC – June 11, 2012 – Greenville Literacy Association (GLA) has launched a county-wide book drive to supply books for the 11th annual Really Good, Really Big, Really Cheap Book Sale. Proceeds from last year’s book sale totaled $124,000 and helped GLA to provide Adult Basic Education, Pre-GED, and English as a Second Language (ESL) programs throughout the year.
“The book sale grows more popular each year, and we are thankful for how the community continues to rally around us by donating books,” said Jane Thomas, executive director at Greenville Literacy Association. “Many of us have books lying around the house that we won’t read again; our book sale provides an opportunity to clean off bookshelves, discover some new books at a fraction of the typical cost, and support vital community education in the process.”
GLA has already received 43,701 books and needs a total of 135,000 to put on a successful sale. Hardback and paperback books of any genre, quality leather-bound encyclopedias, CD’s and audio books will be accepted and can be dropped off through August 3 at local spots like Greenville Literacy Learning Centers, BI-LO Supermarkets, Starbucks and Sports Clubs across Greenville County. For a complete list of book collection partners and donation guidelines, please visit the ‘Book Sale’ section of GreenvilleLiteracy.org. The 2012 Really Good, Really Big, Really Cheap Book Sale will take place on Saturday, August 18 at McAlister Square, 225 S. Pleasantburg Drive, Greenville.
