May 28, 2024

Greenville Technical Charter High School (GTCHS) graduating class has been offered over 7.2 million dollars in scholarships and earned 30 Associate Degrees. The class of 2024 has also completed over 21,250 hours of community service, a cornerstone of the school’s charter.

GTCHS is a middle college high school located on the campus of Greenville Technical College. The strong partnership with GTC enabled 17 students to earn Associate Degrees with 13 of the students earning both an Associate of Arts and an Associate of Science. In addition,  70% of the class completed at least one college class and over 50% of students graduated with 24 or more college credits.

The GTCHS graduation ceremony was held May 21 at the Greenville Convention Center. Class speakers were Joseph Southerlin, Valedictorian; Brady Molloy, Salutatorian; and  Allison Jimenez Amador, the elected Class Speaker. The students encouraged their classmates to pause and celebrate this moment knowing that they overcame the challenges of starting high school during a pandemic to achieve success. Their speeches were all based on a Harriet Tubman quote to create a common theme:  “Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.”

GTCHS is the first public charter school in the state of South Carolina, celebrating its 25th Anniversary this year.
