Janet Hurley Cann recognized as leader for contributions to enhancements, preservation to global water environment

Janet Hurley Cann, P.E., Spartanburg Water’s Asset Engineering Manager, was recently named a Water Environment Federation (WEF) Fellow. This designation is a prestigious recognition of a water leader’s achievements, stature and contributions to the preservation and enhancement of the global water environment. Cann was recognized during WEF’s Annual Technical Exhibition Conference on October 19, in Chicago, Ill.
Each year, only 15 water professionals from across the country are named a WEF Fellow. Fellows are recognized in various areas of expertise including, but not limited to – design, education, operations, regulation, research, utility management and leadership. Cann has served WEF in many capacities, but most recently as the Committee Leadership Council Chair.
“The Fellows designation denotes significant professional accomplishment and contribution to the water environment field,” said Sue Schneider, Spartanburg Water Chief Executive Officer. “We are very proud of Janet receiving this professional national recognition for her dedication and leadership throughout her considerable career.”
Cann was also named to the WEF’s Board of Trustees at the conference, which is the governing body of WEF that holds legal authority on behalf of its membership. She has held many leadership roles on WEF Committees and served WEF as Speaker of the House of Delegates from 2013-2014, Treatment Community of Practice Director from 2015-2017, and Vice Chair and Chair of the Committee Leadership Council from 2017-2021.
