Title: Director of Community Relations at Mission Lexington

Reports to: Executive Director
Supervises: Student Enrichment Coordinator

Hours: Monday – Friday 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. or as needed/designated
(40 hours per week)

Status: Exempt

Qualifications

Experience in Public Relations, fundraising or non-profit management preferred,
Required relevant education and a min. of 4 years experience preferred;
Proven staff supervision and program administration;
Knowledge of non-profit community relations and fundraising;
Understanding of volunteerism and experience as a volunteer in a non-profit organization;
Proven computer skills;
Excellent written and oral communication skills and;
Outstanding interpersonal and supervisory skills.

Summary of Position

• The Director of Community Relations is responsible for the development, implementation, maintenance, and supervision of the community relations
• The Director of Community Relations is to develop, implement, and maintain any new or existing programs within Community Relations purview;
• The Director of Community Relations is responsible for the management of all task and functions related to the programs of Community Relations as assigned by the Executive Director.

Examples of Specific Responsibilities

• To use all forms of media, focusing on Social Media, and communication to generate the necessary resources for quality services and donations
• liaising with member and associate churches
• writing and editing press releases, in-house newsletters and articles
• maintaining and updating information on the organization’s website
• coordination of all special events (Lexington’s Race Against Hunger, LEXPO, Midlands Gives fundraiser, etc.)
• maintain donor information in database

• preparing and supervising the production of publicity brochures, handouts, direct mail leaflets, promotional videos, photographs, films and multimedia programs
• answering informational inquiries from individuals and the community
• speaking in public at presentations, press conferences, radio and TV interviews, and meetings
• developing and maintaining good working relations with the media, including local newspapers, magazines, radio and television
• foster community relations through events
• cooperatively work with the faith communities by clearly communicating the necessary resources for quality services and donations
• fully participate in all assigned committee, meetings, board community functions, and any other related activities;
• ensure the compliance and maintenance of all computer records for community relations;
• to implement any policies and procedures for community relations
• oversee student programming
• To perform all other job responsibilities as assigned by the Board or the Executive Director.
