The E-Resources and Serials Specialist position plays a vital role in the maintenance of the library’s electronic resources (databases, e-journals, digital collections, et al.) and print serials. The specialist activates newly-purchased electronic resources to make them discoverable to library users; troubleshoots access problems and performs ongoing maintenance of e-resource access; maintains the library’s serials collection; and processes materials for fulfillment by the bindery. The specialist will communicate regularly with vendors, suppliers, publishers, content providers, and library consortia. The specialist will collaborate and communicate with library personnel in the Technical Services, Collection Management, and Library Technology and Access Services units.

• On an ongoing basis, activates and deactivates e-journals, digital collections and packages, and open access resources, et al., in the library management system, ensuring that the library’s e-resource collections are current and accurate. Monitors and updates e-resource holdings in the library management system’s community zone. Facilitates access to e-books and streaming media in the library management system.
• Continuously monitors e-resource performance to ensure all resources are operational. Investigates and resolves performance issues promptly. Consults with vendors, suppliers, publishers, content providers, and library consortia, as well as the library’s Collection Management, Technical Services, and Library Technology and Access Services personnel, to resolve e-resource performance issues.
• On an ongoing basis, maintains library profiles on vendor administrative platforms for e-resources and e-journals. Updates details related to key contacts, usage statistics, IP addresses, link resolvers, and other related information. Loads and updates technical information in link resolver/authentication system to provide seamless access to e-resources and e-journals.
• On a continual basis, maintains library’s serials collection, including check-in, title changes, claiming, addition and cancellation of titles, withdrawals, and binding. Investigates and resolves subscription issues promptly with vendors. Maintains holdings records for serials collection. Processes both books and serials for shipment to and return from the bindery on a regular schedule. Uses vendor software to create bindery orders. Checks returning shipments for problems and errors.
• Gathers statistics on e-resource and serials use for library and institutional reports. Conducts annual cost-per-use analysis for both e-resources and serials, providing information to Collection Management to help determine e-resource and serials cancelations.
• Assists with Technical Services projects as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. Participates in professional development opportunities.

Qualifications: A high school diploma or GED. Requires 1 or more years of job-related experience. A successful background check is required.

Preferred Qualifications: A high school diploma or GED and two years of experience managing and maintaining e-resources and serials. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 4+ years of experience managing and maintaining e-resources and serials in a library setting preferred, academic library experience, and proficiency with Alma/Primo library management systems are preferred.

Salary: $34,532; Salary commensurate with education and experience.
