The Event Set-up Specialist is responsible for supporting Special Event operations by facilitating and coordinating the timely set-up, execution, and tear-down of room layouts for all internal and external events affiliated with the University of South Carolina-Upstate. This individual is also expected to manage and maintain the current inventory and assist in the delivery of an overall excellent client experience.
•Provide set up support for events scheduled by the office of Special Events. Pick-up, deliver, and set-up appropriate moveable equipment; including but not limited to tables, chairs, audio visual, sound, and other items as required for the event. Moves inventory into and out of event location using carts, hand trucks, and hand-carrying on a consistent basis. Ensure event/room setup are completed accurately, safely and efficiently according to event design/layout.
•Tear down areas after events; Pick-up appropriate moveable equipment; including but not limited to tables, chairs, audio visual, sound, and other items and return equipment to storage unit or Media Coordinator as needed. Ensure event/room breakdown are completed accurately, safely and efficiently according to event design/layout.
•Maintain inventory, condition, and location of set-up furnishings and equipment. Inspects condition of inventory for damages or items that need repairs and reports any issues to a supervisor.
•Maintain departmental vehicles including documentation of service, gas, mileage, etc.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
In general, the following physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to allow differently-abled individuals to perform the essential functions of the job.

Must be able to see, hear, speak and write clearly in order to communicate with employees and/or other customers. Pushing/pulling/carrying lifting may include 35lbs to 75lbs, and stair climbing. Ability to sit, twist, turn, bend as required to perform duties within the facility. Must be capable of standing for long periods of time.

Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma/or equivalent (GED) and be 18 years of age or older. A good driving record, valid driver’s license and successful background check is required.

Salary: $10.00 to $13.00 per hour
