The University of South Carolina Upstate (USC Upstate) was awarded the GLS Campus Suicide Prevention Program Grant by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s to implement a new three-tier health and wellness program called Spartans Helping Spartans (SHS). The Peer Wellness Coach Program Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the peer wellness coaching program. They will supervise the 4 Peer to Peer Coaches (student workers). The coordinator will conduct annual assessment of prevention and intervention activities. The program coordinator will also begin the process of working with academic partners in order to make the Peer Wellness Coaching Program a for-credit course.
• Oversee the daily operations of a full-scale peer wellness coaching program. Duties will include recruitment, selection, training, and supervision of four peer wellness coaches per year (paid student employees). Maintain all relevant ethical, legal, and professional standards of practice. Evaluate peer educator and provide feedback, as appropriate.
• Develop and deliver presentations, educational resources, and peer health education curriculum for peer educators training each semester and campus wide, and for use within the peer education program utilizing BACCHUS standards.
• Conducts annual assessment of prevention and intervention activities to include; maintaining and compiling learning outcomes data; conducting trend analysis; and preparing portions of the annual report.
• Monitor the health education materials and presentations created by the peer coaches and their social media posts.
• Develop and implement evaluation tools to assess the effectiveness and efficiencies of the peer wellness coaching program.
• Build and maintain relationships with other campus stakeholders for the purposes of fostering collaboration of peer education opportunities
• Perform other duties and assist with projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in health education/promotion, public health, nursing, or related field with 3 years experience. A successful background check is required.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a college-setting. Experience working with a Grant. Supervisory experience. Master’s degree in health education/promotion, public health, nursing, or related field with 1 year experience is preferred.

Salary: $41,258 – $45,000
