Laurens Police Department Celebrates Accomplished Officers and Welcomes New Members
July 30, 2023The Laurens Police Department (LPD) is bursting with pride as it commemorates the achievements of two outstanding individuals, Officer Adam Moore and Corporal Darryl Reed. These dedicated officers have successfully completed their rigorous training at the esteemed South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy, marking a significant milestone in their law enforcement careers. To celebrate their accomplishments, an official swearing-in ceremony was held, with family and friends present.
Officer Adam Moore brings a wealth of experience to the team, having served as a reserve police officer in South Carolina for several years, combined with an impressive 20-year IT background. His diverse skill set and dedication to the force make him a valuable asset to the agency, and his commitment to furthering his training is truly commendable.
Similarly, Corporal Darryl Reed joins the Laurens Police Department with 12 years of experience as a Class 2 Law Enforcement Officer, having previously served as a SGT at the Greenville County Detention Center. His expertise and commitment to upholding the highest standards in law enforcement make him a valuable addition to our force.
During the same ceremony, the LPD also had the privilege of swearing in several other officers, each of whom plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of Laurens. Officer Heather Hall, Officer & K-9 Handler Kendric Waterman, Corporal Miguel Catalan, Sergeant Joshua Coffman, and Sergeant Brandon Davis have demonstrated exceptional dedication to the department and an unwavering commitment to safeguarding the well-being of our residents.
According to Chief Keith Grounsell, “A graduation and swearing-in ceremony for new police officers is an exhilarating milestone in an individual’s life, as they wholeheartedly dedicate themselves to a path of public service. Becoming a certified police officer is a momentous achievement, granting them the privilege to serve people in South Carolina. It was truly an honor to administer the swearing-in of these officers, each bringing their distinct qualities to the table, enriching our organization in remarkable ways.”
