Mason’s new position comes amid exciting times for Clemson’s Department of Industrial Engineering.

The department’s home, Freeman Hall, is undergoing an addition that will include new offices, conference rooms and a 108-seat auditorium. The $10-million project is expected to help attract top talent, while creating room for new faculty members and staff as the department expands.

Enrollment has grown more than 63 percent since 2010, reaching 546 last year.

In his new role at the institute, Mason will be a voting member of the IIE Board of Trustees and will focus on professional development, which includes all of the institute’s conferences.

Mason’s new duties will also include working with other professionals and professional organizations to ensure that the institute offers relevant, comprehensive, and up-to-date training, certifications and experiences that enhance skills and careers.
