Life Cycle Engineering Introduces Shipboard Equipment Assessment Program for U.S. Naval Vessels

January 5, 2015

CHARLESTON, SC – Life Cycle Engineering (LCE) today announced a new program that offers shipboard equipment assessments and maintenance implementation plans for the United States Navy to help ensure mission readiness.

Responding to the Department of Defense’s constant efforts to improve operational availability of Navy ships, LCE developed the Shipboard Equipment Assessment (SEA) Coach program. The SEA Coach™ program is designed to help improve the Navy’s maintenance planning, Consolidated Ship Maintenance Plan (CSMP) management and equipment repair processes through onsite, hands-on training.

“We’re very pleased to announce the SEA Coach program, which formalizes the service we’ve been providing to the Navy for over 30 years,” said Charlie Littleton, vice president of engineering and government services. “The diagnostics and maintenance expertise provided through the program will better prepare ship personnel to troubleshoot problems and implement sustainable solutions that keep the ship fully available for service.”

Introduction of the SEA Coach program is a result of continued efforts to help the Department of Defense manage critical assets such as naval vessels. The program has been developed by a collective group of subject matter experts and former U.S. Naval officers.

Participants in the SEA Coach program are experienced in equipment history assessments, equipment operation and maintenance best practices as well as personnel management. In order to obtain certification as a SEA Coach trainees are required to demonstrate:

    • The ability to assess skill/knowledge deficiencies and provide hands-on, immediate operational and/or maintenance training.
    • The ability to document observed skill/knowledge of shipboard personnel.
    • A thorough understanding of the Navy’s mechanical and electrical equipment assessment process.
    • A comprehensive understanding of the Ballistic Missile Defense Readiness assessment.
    • The ability to conduct and document rudimentary to advanced troubleshooting procedures.
    • A full understanding of the Congress-mandated Board of Inspection and Survey (INSURV) process for a thorough inspection of Navy ships and report on mission readiness.
