GREENVILLE, SC – June 29, 2011 – Space Designs a 2-year old graphic design and mobile marketing company headquartered in downtown Greenville, SC, has launched a part of their business to produce and design custom Quick Response (or QR) codes. They are among a handful of firms in the U.S. doing the custom codes.

A QR code is a two-dimensional matrix barcode in a black and white square graphic. The graphic can be printed on a wide variety of marketing materials for a company. When a consumer hovers their iPhone, Android or other camera-enabled Smartphone over the code, that company’s website or other information loads instantaneously on the consumer’s phone.

“Consumers are extremely busy.  QR codes are a way for consumers to get quickly, efficiently and immediately to a businesses content. Our custom codes can be embedded with company logos, can be blown up to any size without pixelating, and can be used across all software scanners, “ says Founder and CEO Stephen Foster. “The technology of the future is at our doorstep with Smartphones.”

The Pew Research Center states that 85% of U.S. adults own a cell phone, and it jumps to  96% for 18-29 year olds. According to Dan Hesse, CEO of Sprint, 73% of cellphones sold during 1st Quarter 2011 were Smartphones. A 2010 study from Morgan Stanley, The Meeker Report, states that by 2012 there will be 450 million Smartphones and shipments will outpace those of PC’s, both notebook and desktop computers combined.

Custom QR codes are one more piece of a mobile marketing strategy that companies can use to reinforce brand recognition and increase brand awareness.  QR codes can be printed on a variety of media such as the front and back of business cards, direct mail communications, billboards, brochures, delivery trucks, office buildings, product packaging and hangtags, sales receipts, point of sale materials, menus, ticket stubs, trade show banners and tee shirts.

A consumer loads the code and the link could go to directions and hours of a business, installation instructions, offers, promotions, coupons or contests. It could be also used to share customer testimonials, go directly to social media sites like Twitter or Facebook, or even watch a video.
