Lumberyard’s Inaugural Beer Mile Run Event Raises Funds for Whitten Center

June 2, 2024

In celebration of its one-year anniversary, The Lumberyard, owned by Charlie and Stacey Michaels, recently held its inaugural Lumberyard Beer Mile. This unique event, combining running and beer, not only provided entertainment for participants but also served a greater purpose—supporting the local community.

The highlight of the event was the substantial $500 donation made to the Whitten Center Parents’ Club. The donation was made possible through the proceeds from the Lumberyard Beer Mile, with additional contributions from The Lumberyard itself.

“We wanted to create an event that was both fun and reflective of the community spirit that The Lumberyard embodies. The Beer Mile was a fantastic way to bring people together and celebrate our anniversary in a memorable way,” said Stacey Michaels, co-owner of The Lumberyard.

A special thank you goes out to the Beer Mile sponsors, Sadler Hughes Apothecary and Upstate Insurance Consultants, for their generous support. Their contributions were instrumental in making the event a success and facilitating the donation to the Whitten Center.

Stacey Michaels expressed her gratitude, saying, “We are grateful for the opportunity to support such an important organization and give back to our community. Thank you to everyone who participated in the Beer Mile and helped make this donation possible.”

The visit to the Whitten Center and the subsequent donation underscores The Lumberyard’s commitment to community involvement and support. The Lumberyard looks forward to continuing this tradition and hosting more events that bring people together and benefit the community.
