Main Street Clinton Secures Starship for Rhythm on the Rails Event
March 11, 2021The City of Clinton’s signature spring event, Rhythm on the Rails (ROTR), was postponed earlier this month due to continued COVID-19 concerns. It was announced that the event would be held on October 22-23rd.
The ROTR event is usually the kickoff to a series of fun, family-oriented events that take place in the heart of downtown Clinton during the summer months. The event includes retail and craft vendors, non-profit information booths, games, rides and lots of great music.
In addition, family friendly entertainment along our many streets of downtown. The event has more doubled in the last 5 years and has become a family favorite in Historic Downtown Clinton. The event proudly hosts a SBN Sanctioned BBQ event, Smokin’ on the Rails, in conjunction with the festival.
“This is a big event for the city, and we are very excited to have Starship performing,” said Adele Alducin, Main Street Clinton Manager. “The band is legendary for their 70’s and 80’s hits. We are so fortunate to have been able to book them for our event.”
Starship Featuring Mickey Thomas the original lead singer spent decades producing top chart hits. Backed by the power of MICKEY’S vocals, “Jefferson Starship” scored a #1 hit with “JANE”. With this new sound and powerful new vocals, the group was renamed STARSHIP and continued to record an amazing string of hits including “NO WAY OUT”, “WE BUILT THIS CITY”, “SARA”, and an Oscar Nomination for the #1 hit “NOTHING GONNA STOP US NOW” from the movie “Mannequin”. Other top hits included “FIND YOUR WAY BACK”, “STRANGER”, “LAYING IT ON THE LINE”, and “IT’S NOT OVER TILL IT’S OVER” which became Major League Baseball’s theme in 1987.
Mickey will be backed by the band STARSHIP featuring Jeff Adams (Bass), John Roth (guitar), Phil Bennett (keyboard), Darrell Verdusco (drums), and Stephanie Calvert (vocals).
