Melissa Gladden ’99 honored with Charlotte Business Journal’s 2016 Women in Business Achievement Award

ROCK HILL, SC – The Charlotte Business Journal has honored Melissa Gladden ’99, South Carolina’s 2015 Small Business Person of the Year, as one of the 25 most influential women in business in the Greater Charlotte area.

The journal recognizes women who are successful in the areas of innovation, community, quality and efficiency. Charlotte Business Journal will recognize Gladden, president of Carolina Recruitment LLC in Rock Hill, with a reception June 16, and winners will be honored in the June publication.

Gladden described the moment she learned she’d won the 2016 Women in Business Achievement Award as a “surreal experience.” She credited her staff and clients with helping Carolina Recruitment achieve success.

“Truly, it is the superlative effort of my staff and the guidance of our clients that has made Carolina Recruitment great,” said Gladden.

The Rock Hill native established Carolina Recruitment in 2011. The award-winning Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE) Certified staffing firm has grown to service a national client base while maintaining an integral presence in the Rock Hill and the greater Charlotte region.

Gladden earned her B.S. in business administration at Winthrop. She remains active with her alma mater and within the local community. She is a member of the Greater Business Women’s Council, the American Staffing Association and the Employers Association. In addition, Gladden serves on the Junior Achievement, York County Chapter Board and the South Carolina Staffing Association Board.
