May 22, 2024

On Monday, May 27, the Clinton community will come together to honor those who have served and sacrificed for our nation. The American Legion Post 56 will host a Memorial Day Service at the Laurens County School District 56 Conference Center, located on East Hwy 72, across from the old high school. The service will commence at 10:30 AM.

The ceremony will begin with the posting of the colors by the Clinton High School Junior ROTC. Attendees will then hear from guest speaker, Air Force Colonel Bill Goodwin, who will share his insights and reflections on this important day.

A highlight of the event will be the presentation of the Lifetime Unit 56 Auxiliary member award to Rosalind Martin, a dedicated 98-year-old member. The service will also include a poignant remembrance for Gold Star families, honoring the loved ones of those who have given their lives in service to the country.

In addition, the event will feature the dedication of the School District’s new conference center. The solemn ceremony will conclude with the traditional playing of Taps and a Gun Salute.

The public is encouraged to attend this meaningful event and show their support for our veterans and their families.
