Mungo Homes Foundation announces week of service

May 6, 2024

The Mungo Homes Foundation is proud to announce the third-annual Week of Service, which will take place May 6-10.  With a tradition of giving back to the community and adhering to the Mission “To Serve so that other are empowered to thrive,” Week of Service is a company-wide initiative across all nine Markets where Mungo builds throughout South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, and Virginia.

Mungo Homes Team Members in Columbia this week will use company-allotted paid volunteer hours to work with four organizations:

Monday & Tuesday, May 6th & 7th. Home Works. General repairs to home of low-income homeowners.

Tuesday, May 7th. Reconciliation Ministries. Once children on Beatty Downs Road leave on the bus for school in the morning, Mungo Team Members will quickly construct a shed at the bus stop so children no longer have to stand in the elements to wait for the bus each morning. Once the children return in the afternoon and see the new covering, they will be treated to ice cream and yard games.

Wednesday  – Friday, May 8th – 10th: Emmanuwheel. Build three wheelchair ramps for those with mobility issues and need of assistance accessing their homes.

Friday, May 10th. Big Red Barn Retreat. Assist with general maintenance, landscaping, and any projects needed around the barn.

Organizations were nominated by local Mungo Team Members and selected by each local Board of Advisors based on qualifying criteria.

About the Mungo Homes Foundation

The Mungo Homes Foundation was established in 2021 with the sole mission of improving the communities where Mungo builds by providing economic, educational, health, housing, and emergency hardship support for events such as natural disasters. A portion of each home sold is contributed to the Foundation and is invested in the local community of that home. In 2023, more that $400,000 was donated to worthy organizations across the Mungo footprint while Team Members volunteered more the 3400 hours.
