National Chamber executive joins Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce
March 16, 2017The Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce announces the selection of Ian Scott as Senior Vice President of Advocacy. Formerly with the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE), Scott brings with him over 10 years of national and international Chamber of Commerce experience.
The new position brings expanded visibility and depth to the Business Advocacy team, under the direction of the Chamber’s Chief Advancement Officer Mary Graham.
Scott will work to enhance and propel local advocacy collaboration to advance economic prosperity for all businesses large and small in metro Charleston. He will mobilize grassroots activities and work closely with the Chamber’s State Lobbyist, George Ramsey. The addition of Ian increases the Chamber’s emphasis on issues affecting our community and leading the Chamber’s initiatives in local government affairs.
Prior to joining the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce, Scott was the Vice President of Communications for ACCE where he retained more than half of ACCE’s annual membership revenue by building engagement and personal relationships with Metro and Major Cities Council CEOs. He also worked as the Committees Liaison for the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Shanghai, China where he coordinated all government advocacy efforts for the Manufacturing, Sourcing & Procurement, Logistics & Transporation, Construction, Environmental and Healthcare Committees.
Ian is originally from western North Carolina and attended UNC Chapel Hill earning a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History. He now lives in West Ashley with his wife, a fellow North Carolinian. They are excited to now call Charleston, SC home.
