Parsons Re-Elected Chairman of the SC Building Codes Council

COLUMBIA, SC – February 28, 2014 – Gregory Parsons has been re-elected to his 3rd consecutive term as Chairman of the South Carolina Building Codes Council.  Parsons is Principal Engineer with Builders Engineering, a forensic and building related engineering firm with engineers in Columbia and Charlotte.  Builders Engineering serves the insurance, real estate and legal communities.

The SC Building Codes Council sets the building codes to be enforced by the state’s counties and municipalities.  The Council assures statewide consistency by adopting only nationally recognized codes.  The Council also monitors the design, construction, and sale of modular buildings.  In addition, the Council investigates complaints and disciplines building officials and inspectors, when necessary.

A Licensed Professional Engineer in several states, Parsons also serves on the American Arbitration Association National Panel of Construction Neutrals, the Structural Engineering Institute/American Society of Civil Engineers Standards Committee for the Structural Condition Assessment and Rehabilitation of Buildings, and the Committee on Forensic Practice.
