PC Jazz Band Debut Concert Scheduled for April 26th

April 18, 2022

On Tuesday, April 26th, PC Jazz Band will take the stage for the very first time in Belk Auditorium.

This is the first public performance of the PC Jazz Band, a music ensemble created by PC director of bands, Giovani Briguente, in a partnership with students and members of the community.

“It was such a good surprise to see students and community members coming together as they do for the PC Wind Ensemble,” said Dr. Briguente. “I can see a great sense of community and an artistic drive rising in the PC Band Program right now.  The PC Jazz Band is looking forward to presenting a very entertaining set for the audience.”

There is a musician in the community who deserves special credit for this project, Guy Tumblin. According to Dr. Briguente, “he is passionate about music and helping others. He brought his entire sound equipment to the campus for our rehearsals and performances. He runs recordings and helps with the set up every single time. He even donated musical materials for the Jazz Band. PC Jazz Band would not be possible without him.”

PC Jazz Band concert will feature a variety of musical styles, such as jazz, blues, bossa nova (Brazilian popular music), Joshua Masundah performing traditional music from Zimbabwe, and Prof. Amy Link singing the famous tune Summertime by George Gershwin.

The concert begins at 7:30 pm in Belk Auditorium on the campus of PC. The event is free and open to the public.
