Philharmonic announces two more Recital Series concerts

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The South Carolina Philharmonic continues its new Recital Series in 2009 with concerts at Allen University in January and the historic Robert Mills House in February.

The Recital Series – also known as “Where in the Midlands is Morihiko?” – is an outreach initiative of the SCP funded by the Pierrine & Hootie Johnson Fund through the Central Carolina Community Foundation.

Columbia’s Allen University will play host to Music Director Morihiko Nakahara and a brass quintet of SCP musicians on Monday, Jan. 12 from noon to 1 p.m. at the New Student Development Center on the corner of Taylor & Oak streets in the James Mall Shopping Center. Admission is free and the concert is open to the public.

On Thursday, Feb. 12 from noon to 1 p.m., a strings ensemble headed by SCP Concertmaster Mary Lee Taylor performs at the historic Robert Mills House located at 1616 Blanding Street in Columbia.
