August 20, 2007

Columbia, SC – August 20, 2007 – Q2Administrators, LLC (Q2A) has been awarded a contract from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to continue its role in administering the appeals process for Medicare fee-for-service claim denials.

The federal agency awarded Q2A a new 33-month contract to continue serving as the Administrative Qualified Independent Contractor, a position Q2A has held since an overhaul of the Medicare appeals process began in 2004. The contract is valued at $5.8 million.

The Administrative Qualified Independent Contractor, or AdQIC, provides services to CMS and the nationƒs Qualified Independent Contractors, which conduct independent reviews of second-level, fee-for-service Medicare appeals.

AdQIC services include training and education, statistical analysis of appeals data, case file management, developing and updating case review protocols, reviewing administrative law judge decisions, and coordinating activities between various entities involved in appeals administration.

„The award of this task order is a testament to the strength of the current Q2A AdQIC team and the AdQIC leadership, said Q2A President R. Michael Barlow. „Their performance has demonstrated excellence and made our proposal and presentation to CMS powerful and successful.

Q2A is headquartered in Columbia, S.C., with an office in Westerville, Ohio.
In addition to the AdQIC task order, Q2A is also the South Part B Qualified Independent Contractor, handling appeals of Part B Medicare claim denials for providers and beneficiaries in the southern United States.
