September 3, 2008

COLUMBIA, SC – September 3, 2008 – As the projected arrival and strength of Hurricane Hanna continue to be determined and tropical storms Ike and Josephine brew, South Carolina Electric & Gas Company (SCE&G) advises its customers to stay informed about the multiple storms by subscribing to SCE&G Storm Alerts.

Customers can visit www.sceg.com/storm to sign up for e-mail alerts before and after storms. The e-mail alerts will contain helpful information including safety tips, outage reporting instructions, news about power restoration, and customer service contacts.

“SCE&G takes great strides to make sure our customers get the information they need, especially during such a heavy storm season,” said Stacy Shuler, emergency response coordinator for SCE&G. “Adding the convenience of e-mail storm alerts is one more tool that we are providing. SCE&G crews are ready, and we want to make sure our customers are, too.”
