The South Carolina School Boards Insurance Trust’s (SCSBIT) Risk Control Manager Tim Hinson has been named Assistant Director for Risk Control, effective July 1.

“Tim’s promotion is SCSBIT’s formal recognition of what school districts around this state have come to rely on – his unwavering dedication to providing support in risk control, risk avoidance, and just-in-time solutions to assist districts of various sizes,” said SCSBIT’s Director of Insurance Services Lyde Graham. “His can-do attitude, knowledge and skills enhance our ability to preserve the financial integrity of our members.”

SCSBIT is one of the services provided by the South Carolina School Boards Association (SCSBA). It provides workers’ compensation and property and casualty insurance, along with risk reduction services, through a not-for-profit structure. SCSBIT is the largest insurer of school districts in South Carolina.

Hinson began working in the trust’s risk control division in 2007 and was promoted to manager in 2016.

“I am thankful for the opportunities I’m presented, and the relationships forged over the years,” said Hinson. “I am beyond blessed to work alongside such an amazing team of professionals dedicated to serving South Carolina’s districts and schools.”

Hinson is a graduate of the University of South Carolina. Before coming to SCSBIT, he worked for the South Carolina State Accident Fund.
