South Carolina College All Stat Bowl gets seven more

GREENVILLE, SC – January 3, 2013 – The South Carolina College All Star Bowl officials have announced a second round of senior football players taking part in the March game.

Upstate commitments include: Brian Spencer, a cornerback from Newberry College; Anthony Chalmers, a wide receiver from Wingate, and Kelton Hall, a linebacker from Newberry College.

Lowcountry commitments include: Pat Williams, an offensive lineman from Coastal Carolina; Tre Henderson, a cornerback from Coastal Carolina;  Arthur Goforth, a running  back from North Carolina Central, and Joseph Carter, a defensive end from the University of Nebraska.

South Carolina College All Star Bowl officials announced a Watch List of 155 players in December. Rosters will be finalized this month.

The Lowcountry team will be coached by Willie Jeffries, the legendary retired head coach of South Carolina State University and a member of the College Football Hall of Fame. Players from the Upstate (or north of the I-20 line) will be coached by Danny Ford, who led Clemson University to the 1981 National Championship.

The South Carolina College All Star Bowl will be played on March 23, 2013 at 3 p.m. at North Greenville University. The game will be aired live to more than 4.5 million viewers throughout South Carolina as well as parts of Georgia and North Carolina. NFL veterans George Rogers, Patrick Sapp, Brandon Bennett, Woodrow Dantzler and others will serve as mentors to the players as they prepare for the game. Clemson and University of South Carolina broadcasters Will Merritt and Todd Ellis will provide commentary and insight for the game.
