Southeastern Wildlife Exposition announces new fall event in Charleston

September 8, 2022

Tickets on sale now for ‘Flyways’, a new fall event hosted by SEWE and Ducks Unlimited, to be held October 15 at the Charleston Visitor Center Bus Shed

The Southeastern Wildlife Exposition (SEWE), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that celebrates wildlife and the great outdoors through fine art, live entertainment and special events, has partnered with Ducks Unlimited to host Flyways, a new fall event at the Charleston Visitor Center Bus Shed, October 15 from 7pm – 11pm. Tickets for Flyways are available now online.

The Lowcountry’s newest celebration was inspired by the annual migration of waterfowl species across North America. Every fall, ducks and geese follow ancient pathways, called ‘flyways’, from their breeding grounds to warmer climates, in search of food and shelter for the winter months. Scientists are still uncertain exactly how the birds navigate their way across the continent’s four main flyways, but believe they take cues from the position of the sun, moon and stars, geographic landmarks and magnetic fields invisible to the human eye to follow these largely traveled routes.

“Flyways will not only honor the extraordinary journey of waterfowl, but also symbolize our own great migration to SEWE next February,” said John Powell, President of SEWE. “We’re very excited to partner with Ducks Unlimited to host this exciting new celebration and welcome several of our longtime partners, exhibitors, loyal supporters and friends back to the Lowcountry. This early reunion will kick off the SEWE spirit and build momentum with our attendees ahead of the 41st show in Charleston next year.”

Flyways will showcase the best of SEWE and entertain attendees throughout the evening with live music by Momentum Party Band, raffles and more. The event will also feature a curated menu with flavors inspired by North America’s four flyways, including dishes from Martin’s BBQ and Lowcountry Oyster Company, as well as a selection of top-shelf libations at the open bar.

Flyways attendees will be the first to witness the unveiling of next year’s Featured Painting, with the 2023 Featured Artist on-site to share their talent with event-goers. SEWE plans to announce the highly anticipated Featured Artist in the coming weeks.

Several of SEWE’s longtime partners and exhibitors will also be in attendance at Flyways to share their latest products and offerings, including Down East Gear and Williams Knife Co. Attendees will have a chance to interact with unique brands that specialize in waterfowl-focused offerings and learn about trends for the upcoming season during the event.

The weekend of Flyways marks the first opportunity for patrons to purchase their general admission and special event tickets for SEWE 2023, which will be held February 17 – 19 in Charleston. The annual show is the largest and longest-running event of its kind, presenting the finest in wildlife art, celebrating the sporting life and serving as the unofficial kickoff to tourism season in the Lowcountry. Tickets for SEWE 2023 go on sale Friday, October 14.

Flyways tickets are $125 per person and can be purchased online now at sewe.com/event/flyways. Limited tickets are available for the event and are already selling quickly. VIP tables and event sponsorships can also be reserved online.
