St. Francis Festival of Trees Returns to the Renovated Hyatt

November 26, 2012

GREENVILLE, SC – November 26, 2012 – For the 26th year, the Festival will illuminate Greenville as one of its main holiday attractions, Dec. 1 to Jan. 1—with the majority of the trees back at the new and improved Hyatt Regency. Through the Festival’s many enhancements, St. Francis has welcomed families to enjoy bright visions of Christmas together. In addition, the Courtyard Downtown and the Hampton Inn & Suites —Riverplace will host a brilliant display of Christmas trees. This traditional location with a fresh face will re-create the Christmas journey down Main Street, even as it reaches the community with a message of hope and healing. All proceeds from the Festival will benefit our Mack Pazdan Neonatal Care Center.

“The Festival of Trees has been a family tradition in Greenville since 1986,” said Foundation Vice President Erik Whaley. “Our community has embraced this event and supported it—not only coming to see the beautifully decorated trees, but enjoying our Teddy Bear Luncheon, Holiday Brunch and our recently added Silver Bells Celebration—complete with Silent Auction and great memories—all for an incredible cause.”

Amid merry sights and sounds, the Foundation will offer many attractions:

  • A wide variety of trees, decorated by professional designers, business partners and local school children.
  • Silver Bells Celebration, Dec. 6, Hyatt Regency Downtown, 7:00-9:00 p.m.: This is the official kick-off and viewing of the trees. This year’s celebration will also include a silent auction.
  • Teddy Bear Luncheon, Dec. 8, Hyatt Regency Ballroom, 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.: Children can share in the spirit of Christmas by donating a new stuffed animal for local children in need and receiving a photo with Santa Claus. During lunch, students from Wade Hampton High School will perform a kids’ version of The Nutcracker.
  • Holiday Brunch, Dec. 9, Poinsett Club, seatings at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.: Families can enjoy the tastes of the season, prepared by some of Greenville’s finest chefs, and take home a family portrait.
