CHARLESTON, SC – The U.S. Commercial Service’s (USCS) U.S. Export Assistance Center in Charleston announces the STOPfakes.gov Road Show, scheduled for September 19, 2012, at the College of Charleston. Charleston is the only stop in the southeast of this tour of intellectual property (IP) experts from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).The seminar will take place from 8:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. and will include time for one-on-one meetings with attendees and guest speakers (scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis).
Seminar topics will include the basics of obtaining IP rights in the U.S. and abroad; how to enforce your IP rights and resources for U.S. businesses to turn to for assistance. This event is ideal for companies that are currently exporting and need guidance on preparing for foreign market entry and avoidance of patent or copyright infringement of their technology.
You don’t have to go out the door to be global, said Susan Anthony, attorney with the USPTO and scheduled speaker for this event. If you have a website, you’re global. In fact, a recent joint economic committee of the U.S. Congress recently reported that infringement of U.S. IP continues to increase. This seminar is crucial to companies of all sizes to ensure their greatest asset – their own ideas and technology – are protected!
